Started training in 2009 while he was still in college because, as he says, “I needed something to do in between my long class breaks.” Though only 146 pounds at the time, he discovered that he was stronger than his friends who had been training since high school and slowly he began to put on muscle, gradually developing an intense passion for bodybuilding, as well as an award winning physique.
Akim began competing on the bodybuilding stage in 2010, participating in seven amateur and national level shows, taking three overall wins; at the Bill Grant Classic (2010), Eastern’s USA’s (2012), and North Americans (2013) and then achieving four top-five finishes combined before turning professional as a superheavyweight at the 2013 IFBB North Americans Championships.
Akim Williams now packs some of the thickest, most dense muscle in the IFBB! Since then he has won the Tampa Pro in 2016 and in 2018 had two controversial 2nd placings at the Muscle Mayhem Pro and the Toronto Supershow Pro.
Some of his heaviest lifts to date, of which he is particularly proud, are an 860 lb. deadlift, an 840 lb. squat and a 550 lb. bench press. Once named “The World’s Strongest Bodybuilder” on the cover of Muscular Development magazine, Akim now is focused on the Arnold Classic.
